Jay Bradford Bloomer
October 19, 1976 - October 15, 2019

Meg, Elle, Brooks, & Miles Bloomer
The Jay Bloomer Foundation was established in memory of Jay Bradford Bloomer to ensure that his legacy continues to serve others as he did.
The foundation looks forward to awarding scholarships annually to deserving students at Dobyns-Bennett and T.L Hanna High Schools, who exhibit many of the same qualities as Jay. By providing even a small donation, we can honor Jay and enrich the lives of these deserving students.
As the foundation grows - so will our impact!
In 2021, we were able to add a third scholarship for students pursing a nursing degree - a group near and dear to Jay's heart. You can read more about the Honor Health Career Program below.
With your continued support, we will also bring awareness to blood cancer, like the one Jay fought bravely, support further research for a cure, and support patients and families who continue to fight. Thank you for joining us. The best is yet to come!
See information below in the "Contact" section for details on how to mail in donations.
Scholarships
The Jay Bloomer Foundation was established within the Foothills Community Foundation and will provide scholarships to students from T.L. Hanna High School in Anderson, South Carolina and/or Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, Tennessee who pursue higher education through technical college, or traditional four-year college at an accredited institution of higher learning. In consultation with The Jay Bloomer Foundation, the Scholarship Committee shall award scholarships to college-bound students from T.L. Hanna and/or Dobyns-Bennett High Schools who demonstrate the following traits:
- LEADERSHIP AMONG PEERS;
- WELL-ROUNDED AND GOOD-NATURED CHARISMA;
- CONCERN FOR THEIR COMMUNITY;
- ATHLETIC PARTICIPATION OR ACHIEVEMENT; AND
- DEDICATION TO ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE.

Honor Health Career Programs
Due to the overwhelming success of the Foundations' first year, and in thanks to many generous donations, in 2021 we were able to add a third scholarship donation! We have said from the beginning, that as our Foundation grows...so will our impact. Jay spent his entire career working alongside health care workers like those in this program, and we know he would be thrilled to know that we are picking up where he left off and supporting this program and it's deserving students.
HHCP is a non-profit organization that provides assistance to working students so that they can overcome barriers to education such as tuition, supplies, and equipment as well as valuable resources and support to help them succeed. Meg had the opportunity to meet one of the current students in the program when presenting this inaugural scholarship and she emphasized that without this program and donations like ours, many of the students would never have the opportunity to pursue higher education. On behalf of HHCP and The Jay Bloomer Foundation, thank you for helping us continue Jay's legacy of serving others through this additional scholarship opportunity.
